Hi everyone, my name is Peter, and I am originally from China. Like most of the overseas students in Australia, my dream is to find a good job relating to what I have studied. Half year ago, I got my first job in Melbourne as an electronic engineer. Words couldn't express how excited I was. Here I would like to express my sincere thankfulness to Gradsolutions who help me a lot throughout the whole job hunting process. At the beginning I had lots of doubts on whether it would really help because I believed that employers value technical skills more than other aspects (such as appearances, professional skills, interview manners, etc.) in the Engineering sector.
My view changed after a few talks with the Career Consultants at Gradsolutions. According to their advice, “selling myself” as a person is as important as all the technical skills I possess as an Engineering graduate.
I would like to appreciate my Senior Consultant who assisted me with my job search, as she was a good mentor, and was very professional and committed to her candidates. I picked up heaps of essential interview skills and mock interview experience from her, which had benefited me all the way throughout my interviews. Her encouragement and constructive feedback successfully strengthened my confidence in answering any interview questions.
