Soon I began to look for engineering jobs more proactively, since I was getting tired of applying online and not getting any response. I met GradSolutions at the Swinburne Careers and Employment Fair back in March 2011 and decided to come for the FREE initial apppointment. The Career Consultant reviewed my resume and recommended me to take up the Resume Refinement and Cover Letter Writing package, which I did, and my resume and cover letter were revised according to the specific needs of the Australian employment market.
As soon as I started applying for jobs with my revised resume and cover letter, I started receiving calls from employers, but it only went that far, and I did not get a chance to demonstrate my skills. So I decided to take up their Professional Development Program and that was the turning point for my career. During the program, I learnt to perceive the interview process from the point of view of employers. I had a couple of interviews soon after, and to prepare for those interviews, my Senior Consultant conducted Mock Interview Sessions for me so I could practice my answers and bolster my confidence.
I was career focused so I applied for jobs in QLD and NSW as well as VIC. After a few unsuccessful attempts, I finally managed to obtain a job in one of Australia’s booming industries!
I can't even begin to express my gratitude towards GradSolutions. I had the skills and education as well as relevant work experiences, but it was GradSolutions who showed me the way, to get through the selection process and achieve success! Everytime I felt discouraged and frustrated with my job search, I went to GradSolutions. They gave out a very positive vibe, and my Senior Consultant as well as Career Consultant gave me lot of confidence and enthusiasm.
To conclude, keep faith in your own ability, stay positive and be optimistic. I had applied to thousands of jobs got rejections from almost everyone. When an employer does not give you a chance, keep in mind that they have not realised your potential yet, so don’t get discouraged! Have 3 Ps: Patience, Perseverance and Positivity.
Thank you GradSolutions!
